Tamar Horowitz Livne

Tamar Horowitz Livne was born on Kibbutz Hahoresh and currently is a member of the community on Kibbutz Kabri. She has been the director of the Kabri Gallery since 2021. She is a curator, artist and art researcher. She is also a doctoral student at the School for Jewish Science and Archaeology at Tel Aviv University. Her areas of specialization are visual culture, Israeli art, traditional handicrafts, the Jewish sciences, sculpture and music education. Her most recent research, “The British connection in the life and works of the artist Avraham Melnikov (1918–48)”, won the Dov Sadan Prize for Literature and the Jabotinsky Institute Research Prize. Her current research is focused on visual culture during the British Mandate period in the Land of Israel. She received her professional training during the past 19 years of working at the Open Museum in Tephen as a secondary curator and as the director of the Education Department. She is the mother of three and a volleyball coach.
